Our Commitment to Privacy

At Domain Echo, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect (spoiler: very little), how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

What We DO Collect:

  • Random Username - A randomly generated username (e.g., "CosmicPikachu777") stored locally in your browser
  • Messages - Chat messages you send, associated with your random username
  • Domain Information - The domain of the website you're chatting on (e.g., "example.com")
  • Presence Data - Temporary data showing you're active on a domain (automatically deleted after inactivity)

What We DON'T Collect:

  • ❌ Your real name or email address
  • ❌ Your IP address
  • ❌ Your browsing history
  • ❌ Cookies or tracking pixels
  • ❌ Any personally identifiable information (PII)
  • ❌ Analytics or usage data

How We Use Your Information

The minimal data we collect is used solely to provide the Domain Echo service:

  • ✅ Display your messages in chat rooms
  • ✅ Show who's currently active on a domain
  • ✅ Enable real-time communication

We do NOT use your data for advertising, marketing, or any other purpose.

Data Storage and Retention

  • Messages: Stored temporarily in our database. We may implement automatic deletion of old messages.
  • Presence Data: Automatically deleted after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • Username: Stored locally in your browser only. We don't store it on our servers.

Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Period.

The only "sharing" that occurs is when your messages are displayed to other users in the same chat room - which is the entire point of the service!

Third-Party Services

Domain Echo uses Convex as our backend infrastructure provider. Convex may collect minimal technical data necessary to provide their service. Please review Convex's Privacy Policy for more information.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal information, there's not much to manage! However, you can:

  • ✅ Reset your random username at any time in the extension settings
  • ✅ Clear your local data by clearing your browser's extension storage
  • ✅ Uninstall the extension to stop using the service

Children's Privacy

Domain Echo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used Domain Echo, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
